October 01st 2010 - Nicola & Martin - The King's Croft Hotel, Pontefract
One thing you may have noticed (should you be a regular visitor to my photoblog pages!) is that I mention the weather almost every blog entry. The reason is pretty obvious! Good weather or bad weather determines the photography on your wedding day. Glorious sunshine means squinting people, so shaded areas are preferable, snowy days mean most people will be reluctant to venture outside for more than 5 minutes and rainy days mean that outdoor photography is pretty much a no-go!
Well, today's weather report couldn't have been more accurate.... rain, rain, rain, rain and more rain! Even though the rain didn't let up once, we still managed to get plenty of photos throughout the day in various parts of the venue.
Nicola is my wife's cousin, so today's wedding was even more pressured than usual for me seeing as a high percentage of the guests were my family members on my wife's side! Thankfully, with some quick thinking from the staff at the King's Croft, we managed to deal with some of the larger group photos on the dancefloor of the second function room, 30 minutes before the 'other' bride and groom arrived.
Nicola and Martin were brilliant sports, not once letting the wet weather stifle their enthusiasm for their wedding day. Even when Wellies and brollies were brought into play at 830pm, smiles still shone through!
I do have to say that considering the circumstances (and yes, I can honestly say, hand on heart, that today's wedding was probably one of the most challenging weddings I've photographed in the 7 years I've been running my wedding photography business!) I'm really pleased with the end results!
The evening was rocked by my old band, Matrix, who got everyone up dancing into the early hours (and yes, I did get up to sing for old time's sake!!)
Congrats Nic and Martin!
